Paper Folder Speeds and Duty Cycles

The operating speed of a paper folder is the speed at which the motor on a paper folder is capable of running. If a manufacturer says its paper folding machine operates at 4,000 sheets per hour, this does not mean that you should use it for folding 4,000 sheets per hour for several hours a day. This means that if you are folding 200 sheets of paper, it will take about three minutes at top speed to do this.

Many automobiles have top operation speeds of 140 miles per hour. If you run your automobile at maximum operation speed, the car will not last you very long as mechanical parts will begin to break down. This is the same with a paper folder. The operating speed is the maximum speed at which the motor can run. If you run a paper folder at maximum operating speed for long periods of time, it will not last very long.

Owners or potential buyers of paper folders should talk to a sales associate and find out what their paper folder's duty cycle is. The duty cycle of a paper folder is the recommended amount of paper that a paper folder should fold per day or hour. The duty cycle and operation speed are always different.

The life span of your paper folder depends entirely on how you take care of it. For any questions regarding paper folders, please call one of our sales associates.
